Let’s Meet

Mike Butera, LMFT

I am a relational therapist and clinical supervisor operating from a depth-oriented, systemic lens. As a Highly Sensitive Person, I attune quickly to the emotional temperature of individuals and relationships. That sensitivity is central to my work and grounds the client’s experience in exquisite empathy.

My practice is rooted in Internal Family Systems (IFS) for individuals and Relational Life Therapy (RLT) for couples. With IFS — sometimes called parts work — we explore the emotional landscape of your inner world, tracing present patterns back to their origins. With RLT, we deconstruct patriarchal sources of conflict while practicing relational empowerment.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent a decade in the aerospace industry, working with engineered systems. I crossed the career bridge to find meaning in working with the most complex systems of all — the interpersonal and internal relationships of people trying to find their way through life.

Let’s Explore

Individual Therapy

+

Individual therapy focuses on the here-and-now anxiety, depression, grief, or relational struggles, tracing present patterns back to their roots. Through Internal Family Systems (IFS) and depth-oriented work, we explore your emotional landscape excavating layers below the negative thoughts and coping strategies. You will identify, understand, and reevaluate attachments to these internal parts so you can embody more of your authentic self.

Couples Therapy

+

Couples therapy helps to slow down the cycles that keep you stuck and create space for a transformative experience of relational empowerment. Drawing from Relational Life Therapy (RLT), we deconstruct the relational dynamics that create distance, recalibrate loving power, and cultivate genuine intimacy.

Family Therapy

+

Family therapy addresses the recurring conflicts and communication breakdowns that strain relationships between caregivers and children. From a Family Systems Therapy lens, we examine the roles, beliefs, boundaries, and patterns helping each member express needs directly and respond to one another with greater compassion and understanding.

Group Therapy

+

Group therapy provides something uniquely healing that individual therapy alone cannot provide: being witnessed by others who care and building a sense of community. We co-create a space where vulnerability is met with genuine support — where you can practice new ways of relating, process what you carry, and discover that you are not as alone in your experience as you may have felt.
